Olive Tree Restaurant in Rodley, Leeds
The Olive Tree Greek restaurant in Rodley, Leeds, opened in 1986 and has been delighting diners with its authentic cuisine ever since. Located on Rodley Lane, just off the roundabout where the A6120 and A657 meet, The Olive Tree is easily accessible, making it an ideal venue for group and corporate functions.
The Olive Tree is nestled within an imposing Victorian building and is the largest of the branches that have spread across Leeds. The dining room is kept clean and classic and makes the most of the carefully restored architecture. As there are only a few tables in each room, the venue has an air of intimacy surrounding it.
Head Chef Andreas has been cooking Greek cuisine for over 15 years and his expertise shines through in each dish found on the menu. Stand-out dishes include the starters of Halloumi Cheese grilled and drizzled with Olive Oil and the Keftedes, minced lamb, potatoes, onions and herb meatballs served with a fresh piquant tomato sauce. Main courses showcase the best of Greek with the classic Mousakka, minced lamb layered with aubergines in a béchamel sauce; popular Cypriot dish Kleftiko, a joint of lamb slowly cooked in a clay over with oregano and garlic, and the Kota Souvlaki, a traditional grilled chicken kebab marinated in olive oil, lime juice and oregano.
Diners at The Olive Tree Rodley can also enjoy entertainment on a Friday night as owner George plays the Bouzouki and encourages staff, and willing diners, to get up and party, Greek style!

The food is good but service leaves something to be desired. Rude waiters do not make this a pleasant dining experience. I have to say that it is the senior staff that are the problem as the younger waiters and waitresses do seem to make an effort. Do not agree with their 10% service charge as I prefer to tip my waiters directly so I know they get to keep it.

The restaurant is well presented and the external aspect is strong. The interior is pleasant and well kept and created a nice environment to relax and tables were quite private. The staff were all pleasant but the main waiter who took our order lacked personality and service skills - he was very cold and direct but the female waitresses made up for this. The starters were strong with both the whitebait and chicken spring rolls fairing well. The mains were chichen hydra that was pleasant and tasty with a strong sauce complimenting the dish and the olive tree fillet was mediocre the sauce was divine but the steak itself was not a great cut with 2 pieces of fat running through it and over cooked on 1 side as I asked for it medium rare. The chips were average that accompanied the meal. Overall I would try it again and give it one last try if only to tast the whitebait once more but will be wary of the premium cuts of meat which are average price but less than average quality.

A very pleasant dining experience. The service was friendly but unobtrusive, the courses were delivered promptly and the food was absolutely delicious! Well prepared and well presented, with generous portions, especially the mixed meze. Plus an excellent retinsa to accompany the meal. Recommended for both lunchtimes and evenings. (We had our wedding reception here many years ago!)

Overall very satisfied, If i was to be construcitve i would say that we maybe had too many of the staff trying to look after us as we were asked by at least 3 of them if the food was ok etc, as for the toilets, they were clean but the didnt represent the standards of the restaraunt. Thoroughbly enjoyable visit though and we will be back. please dont see as critism this is hopefully constructive feedback.

When we booked we were offered a 20% discount from Go dine. When we received the bill we had to ask three times for the discount to be taken off. The food was not very hot and we felt rushed by the waiters to eat our food.
