This was the first time I had dined in this restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the cooking and the value for money compared to other establishments in Leeds. The starters - queenie scallops with risotto and pig cheeks with black pudding were well executed and showed real ambition by the kitchen. The mains were also good and the portions ample, especially the whole sea bass which was a very large one.
In my opinion this is right up there with the best restaurants in Leeds if you want a degree of sophistication in the cooking.

Monday evening at 6pm is possibly not the best time to visit for ambience but the decor in the New Ellington is very modern and relaxing. Also we were wanting an early meal prior to visiting the theatre so we had to remind staff that we were in a hurry. Staff were very polite and worked to meet our deadline. The food was excellent especially the Yorkshire menu - beautifully presented and very tasty. Portions were good too and overall it was a very good experience and worthy of a return visit.
